Overview
Musk okra is an annual tropical herbaceous plant growing up to 6' tall.
It has toothed leaves; yellow - or purple flowers.
The seeds are in a hairy, cornered pyramid capsule; these seeds have medicinal applications.


Medicinal applications
As an antidote for snakebites; an emulsion from the seeds is considered to be anti-spasmodic and is used externally.
Extensively used as an insecticide and a aphrodisiac.
The oil of the seeds, with a strong musk odor, are also used in the perfume industry (now largely replaced by synthetic musk oils) and is used to flavor coffee.

Seeds and cuttings.
Culture
Full sun.
Flowers year round (with the temperature above 68°F).
Needs moist well drained soil.
Frost tender; temperature should be above 60°F; plant in frost free spots.
